Description
Scarce early pictorial map of the town of Nantucket by Tony Sarg.
This is one of the few great pictorial maps of the town itself, capturing both images of the buildings, street names, and the town history.
David Rumsey (8074) describes the map as:
Pictorial map, bird's eye view style . . . by illustrator and puppeteer Tony Sarg . . . this is his affectionate map of the central streets, documenting the history of this whaling town. With a list of important public and residential buildings. Includes vignette illustrations in the border of outstanding citizens.
