Description

Original vintage geological map of the region around Dixon, Vacaville, and Elmira in the central valley near Sacramento. Showing an area of some 100 square miles in size in great detail, this map preserves the still-nascent layout of these Central Valley towns. The map was engraved in 1908 by the USGS following information compiled by Charles E. Weaver, and published in 1949.

Dixon, Vacaville, and Elmira are shown in fantastic detail, with individual buildings and lots shown. The geology of this area is mainly dominated by the young sediments of the Central Valley, while the start of the Coast Range to the east shows some older rocks.
