Finely constructed map of the celestial sky, published by the French National Institute of Geography.
The image consists of 2 maps of the celestial skies on two separate projections.
The map notes that:
This Chart of the Sky, constitutes a precise working instrument for the measurements intended for the determination of the astronomical coordinates of the point of observation (astronomy of position); but it is more particularly intended for amateur astronomers or people wishing to have a map that is both decorative and complete.
The map represents the starry celestial sphere. The aspect of the main constellations is highlighted in a schematic way by means of lines connecting the stars; the latter are reported according to conventional signs which specify their apparent magnitude.
