Description

Vintage reprint of a fascinating issue of the Pasadena Press, dealing with Pasadena's fight against the incorporation of Altadena. This issue, apparently originally published in 1946, details the issues relating to the incorporation of the city of Altadena. We have been unable to trace any other examples of this image.

Pasadena long sought to annex Altadena in full but was only able to annex small portions throughout the first half of the 20th century. Community campaigns stopped annexation in 1956, although it later resumed in fits and starts. Altadena remains unincorporated.

The map included in the broadside shows annexation attempts through time and the ever-extending city limits of Pasadena. The map shows the street layout of Pasadena, alongside topography and a number of notes.
