This lithographed map illustrates railway and travel routes accessible within a day’s journey from Bombay (now Mumbai), highlighting key rail lines in red, and encompassing a significant portion of western India. Elevations are shown pictorially, and rivers and major geographic features are delineated.
The map was produced by Hate & Co., a firm based in Byculla, Bombay, for M. J. Giles, Chief Inspector of the Police, Arms, Explosives, Theatre, Poisons, Petroleum and Motor Vehicles Department at the Head Police Office in Bombay, for inclusion in his handbook, The Motorist's Guide.
