Original vintage pictorial map of Durban, South Africa, published locally in 1953. The map shows the many highlights of the city, including fishing, surfing, and other sea sports.

The apartheid-era map shows a "Native Township," a government-organized city that was first established in 1946. It became heavily populated following the riots of the 1940s and 1950s and became one of the foremost centers of the fight against apartheid.

The map also shows the country club, various roads, the oil refinery, and names the neighborhoods of Durban.
