Description
Wonderfully detailed antique engraved bird's-eye view of Jerusalem by Olfert Dapper.
The view has two keys, the one on the left (with letters), describes more general areas within the city. On the right (with numbers), is a list of 52 important buildings and landmarks.
The landscape is exceptionally detailed with each building rendered individually and the many people seen wandering around the foreground and within the city itself.
The view appears in Dapper's Naukeurige beschryving van gantsch Syrie en Palestyn of Heilige Lant. Amsterdam: Jacob van Meurs, 1677, pt. II, Fol. 327.
