Description
Rare pictorial tourist map of the Transvaal, published in Johannesburg.
The map is surrounded by vignettes showing historic places, wildlife, native tribes, agricultural & mineral distribution, fishing areas, farms and portrait of notable figures. The map road is shaded to show topography and shows roads, railways, cities and towns.
At the top left, a larger view of Johannesburg is shown, with the Hartebeest-poort Dam in Pretoria shown below and vignette of the Union Buildings in Pretoria to the right of the title.
Rarity
The map is very rare. This is the first example we have seen on the market.
