Description

Rare 18th Century map of a portion of Catalunia, with a large inset plan of Barcelona held aloft by two winged cherubs and a larger mermaid like creature. Shows the coastline from from Cap de Cervere to Llobregat, with Girona prominently noted. The map extends inland to Roda, Aulot, Font de S. Maria, Bellpuig, Navata, Albona, Villarnadal, Wich, Caldes, St. Martins Sescours, Granolles, Manleu, Sellant, St. Hypolite de Valting, etc. The map is an extraordinary topographical presentation, showing the region under seige by a large number of sailing ships. Unusual decorative border, compass rose and other embellishments. A nice uncolored example of this very rare map.
