Description

Scarce St. Paul-published pocket map of Minnesota depicting the state from the Lake of the Wood to the Iowa border. The map extends eastward towards Wisconsin's Bayfield Peninsula.

Sewall was publishing maps out of St. Paul at the time of statehood.

There are numerous editions of Sewall's Sectional Map, which, to the best of our knowledge, can only be differentiated by the county configurations within the map image.

In this case, the map has a county configuration most closely matching that of 1863 (See the Newberry Atlas of Historical County Boundaries).

Condition Description
Folding map. Original hand-color by county. Repaired long tear from the left edge into the image. Small stains in the image.
