Description
Fantastic original vintage poster advertising the seaplane route between the California mainland and Avalon, operated by Air Catalina. This fine poster shows a Grumman Goose seaplane as it approaches the island off the coast of Los Angeles.
Strangely, no company operating under the name Air Catalina flying a Grumman Goose floatplane appears to have operated flights to Avalon from Long Beach. This may refer to an unrecorded name change of Catalina Airlines, which underwent a number of such name changes between the 1950s and the 1980s, before focusing on helicopter services. Several editions of this poster appeared, with varying borders and tints of blue used.
