Description

A wonderful, detailed bird's-eye view map of Istanbul produced locally in 1966.

The view follows a tradition that was emergent at the time and is today closely associated with Bollmann, though its antecedents date back centuries. The view attempts to show each building (or at least a loose representation thereof) throughout Istanbul.

The map was designed by the Turkish architects Şevket Özden (1926-2020), İlban Öz, and Kerim Çalapverdi.

The map was seemingly produced for German tourists to the city, as most of the text is in German.
