Description

Fascinating original antique map of France, showing the region as it stood during the pre-Revolutionary period, dating back to the Roman Empire.

The map shows layers of nomenclature, from the Roman names of various cities and regions to the "Provinces" of the Ancien Regime that persisted until the Revolution. The regions conquered by Clovis are shown.

This map was published by Augustin Legrand and issued in his Atlas Elementaire.

Condition Description

Significant toning along centerfold and some loss, restored with Japanese tissue on verso.
