Description

Detailed pair of battle plans from Dr. Gordon's History of the American War.

The map is based upon a larger map by Henry Clinton of the same title, issued in 1780. The Charlestown plan shows the confluence of the Cooper and Ashley Rivers, with approximately 20 ships in the Harbor, 6 of which are named and note the number of guns. A key names approximately 20 sets of fortifications and other battle notes of interest.

The plan of Sullivan's Island and Fort Moultrie shows 9 ships attacking the fort, with names and other battle details. As with most Yorktown Plans, the map is rare on the market.

The map appeared in Dr. Gordon's History of the American War, one of the best contemporary British Accounts of the Revolution.
