Description

Valk and Schenk's map of Derbyshire, featuring towns, hills, rivers, and parks, published in Amsterdam in circa 1690.

Two colored cartouches. The coats of arms of William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby; Edmund, Earl of Lancaster; John of Gaunt, first Duke of Lancaster; and Thomas Stanley, Earl of Derby, as well as an empty one are pictured.

This map represents a later state of a map of the same name first published by Jan Jansson sometime around 1646. Jansson published a series of maps of the British regions, which were based on the most accurate sources at the time.
