Description

Rare separately published map of a portion of the Jesuit Province of Ngan-Hoei, published by the Jesuit Mission de la Compagnie de Jesus, Kiang-nan, to accompany an essay about the province, and dated August 1888.

The map tracks the course of the Yangtze River from Wangjiang County, Anqing, Anhui to Fanchang in Wuhu, Anhui Province.

The map notes at the bottom left that it is by A. Pierre, S.J. (Society of Jesus) and in the bottom right "Zi - Ka - wei, Pres Chang-hai, Chine". Hongze Lake and Gaoyou Lake appear in the Northeast.
