Dan Bonfigli lived from 1915 through 2001 and was from Santa Rosa. This map would appear to have been done relatively early in his career as an artist.
Bonfigli graduated from Santa Rosa High School and studied art at the California School of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and the Art Institute in San Francisco. He made a name for himself as a young artist in the advertising world in San Francisco. He established a partnership with Walter Guild and Dave Bascom in 1949 to create the advertising agency of Guild, Bascom and Bonfigli.
As art director, he managed major accounts with large companies such as Best Foods, Martinelli's, Ralston Purina and Golden Grain Macaroni. He won numerous awards and medals for his creativity. Guild, Bascom and Bonfigli sold their offices in 1965 and Dan opened his own business in San Francisco, moving it later to his studio at home in Tiburon. On his own, he designed a variety of artwork including a line of greeting cards, wine labels, food packaging and numerous logos. He retired in 1985.
