Fascinating allegorical map of the so-called "kingdom of honesty." This fairy-tale land is shown with great detail, with various seas, small mountain chains, cities on hills, and other wonderful imaginative imagery.
Various toponyms seen are the "lake of self-sufficiency," the "mountains of inertia," the city of fame, and the eventual course of the river of dutiful love takes one to the "fruitful fields."
This great piece was published in a set of ten allegorical maps as part of Franz Johan Joseph von Reilly's Bibliothek der Scherze mit einem satyrisch-allegorischen Atlasse. This "Library of Humorous Remarks" included various fantastical and moralistic maps. Among the maps published were charts of narcissism, love, honor, power, knowledge, laziness, and commerce, as well as a "general map of the moral world."
