If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Description

Fine 20th Century chromolithographic view of a portion of Mecca, centered on the Kaaba.

This view is unusual, in that it shows three minarets and the surrounding hills of Mecca, unlike most of the views of the Kaaba sold to pilgrims to commemorate the Hajj.

Another unusual feature of the image is what appears to be a ring of electric street lamps around the Kaaba. The first electric lighting system was installed during the reign of Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī (emir of Mecca 1908–16 and king of Hejaz 1916–24).

This 1930 Survey of India map offers a depiction of a large swath of the Middle East, with particular emphasis on the Persian Gulf, portraying the geographical and socio-political landscape of the region during a pivotal era in its history.
