With Images of Antibes, St. Tropez, and Nice.
Attractive set of eight town plans showing important French ports on the Mediterranean, originally appearing in Jaillot's Atlas Nouveau.
The cities shown include Marseille, St. Tropez, Toulon, Ville Franche, Antibes, and Nice (shown twice), and the Fort at Brigancon is also shown, near Bormes-les-Mimosas. Each of these plans derives from other sources, resulting in a variety of styles shown. For example, Toulon is given a very stark treatment, focusing solely on its port, while Marseille is shown as a birds-eye view overlooking Notre-Dame de la Garde.
An attractive set of plans.
