Description

No Indian Territory - Just Texas!

Fascinating and early Blackie & Son map of the United States, showing many early state and territory configurations including a very unusual arrangement of Texas and Indian Territory (Oklahoma).

The geography dates from around 1854-1858, with Minnesota still encompassing a large part of what is now the Dakotas.

The Texas configuration is noteworthy because there is no attempt to differentiate the territory to its northeast, which was never part of Texas. Oklahoma and Texas famously clashed over Greer County, supposed by Texas to be part of the state but later decided in Oklahoma's favor.

An uncommon and desirable configuration. This is the first time we have had this edition of the map.
