Description

Interesting Nazi-era German map of East and Southeast Asia, prepared in 1942 and intended for the education and use of German soldiers.

The map covers Japan, southern Siberia, "Mandschutikuo", Korea, China, Southeast Asia, the Philippines, etc.

One of the interesting aspects of the map is that it shows the Japanese and Australian mandates of former German colonies, which were taken after the First World War. In this case they are referred to, in a way, as contemporary German colonies but under the administration of the Japanese.

The map bears two stern warning: "Nur für den Gebrauch innerhalb der Wehrmacht" (Only for use within the Wehrmacht) and "Nicht sammeln, sondern weitergeben!" (Don't collect, but pass on!), indicating the map's purpose and the scarcity and value of cartographic items within Germany in 1942 and later.
