Description

Fantastic Early Aviation Game Board.

Gorgeous early aeronautical-themed game board, focusing on some of the earliest airplane contraptions popular in Europe around 1910.

The game takes the form of an airshow, with the contestants taking off from a jetty, surrounded by curious onlookers, doing several stunts and acrobatic turns in the sky, all while potentially experiencing a host of potential accidents (including hidden air balloons, onboard fires, crashing into the ocean, getting hit by lightning, etc.), before landing safely on the beach to the excitement of all attending. The game has a total of 85 steps.

Some of the illustrations are difficult to identify, but to the best of our abilities, the aircraft include the 'Standard' Voisin (20), the Wright Type A (58), planes of the Antoinette class (possibly 38 and 31), and perhaps the Bristol Boxkite (82).

Rarity

The game is apparently very rare; we cannot trace it in OCLC nor in general Google searches involving the printer and related keywords (in English and German), though we do not have access to any bibliographies of early-20th-century games that might exist.
