Battle Map from the Life of Georgve Washington

Interesting Revolutionary War battle map from John Marshall's Atlas to Marshall's Life of Washington.

The map shows the area between Elk Head and northeast to Trenton and on to New Brunswick, New Jersey, with an American force under General Irvine arrayed on the south side of the Delaware River.. Details of British and Ameican troop positions, particularly those of General Irvine along the Delaware River on the opposite shore from Trenton.

John Marshall, who first served in the Culpeper Minute Men during the American Revolution, before embarking on a distinguished career as a politician, ambassador, and ultimately the Chief Justice of the United States. Marshall's father Thomas had been a close friend of George Washington, dating back to the French & Indian War. It was during his time as Chief Justice that Marshall was asked by Washington's nephew Bushrod Washington to write the Official Biography of Washington's life, which would be published in America, England and France for the next several decades.
