Description
Detailed plan of Manila Bay and the Port of Acapulco, from George Anson's A voyage round the world in the years MDCCXL, I, II, III, IV by George Anson, Esq., commander in chief of a squadron of His Majesty's ships sent upon an expedition to the South-seas.
The maps show two of the principal harbors of the Manila Galleon Trade, along with a profile view of the Ladrone Islands. Admiral Anson chased a Spanish treasure galleon from Manilla to Acapulco, capturing it in a chance meeting. When he got his haul home 32 wagons were needed to transfer the silver from the port to the Tower of London.
