Scarce "Road and Railway" map of Iran, published by "IranTour State Travel Co., in Tehran.
The map was likely issued about the time of the opening of the Trans-Iranian Railway in 1939, with several other lines under construction, but not yet completed. For example, the line from Ahvaz to Khorroamshahr (commenced in 1942 and completed in 1943) is not yet shown as under construction.
The map locates Frontier Roads, Railroads, Frist, Second and Third Class Roads and Roads and Railway under Construction.
The map shows the Trans-Iranian Railway from Bandar Torkaman (Bandar Shah) on the Caspian Sea to Bandar-e Emam Khomeyni (Bandar Shahpour) on the Persian Gulf was opened during the reign of Reza Shah Pahlavi in 1939.
