Description

Attractive vintage pictorial map brochure produced for the resort on Bowen Island, now a part of metropolitan Vancouver.

The view of Bowen Island shows many possible activities that can be undertaken on the island and is supplemented with many pictures and descriptions of life on the island. Hotel and ferry fees are provided.

The map was produced by the Union Steamship Company, which operated the resort at Bowen between 1920 and 1960. The brochure suggests the location as the ideal place for servicemembers on furlough, thus likely making this a WWII-era work.

The map is apparently scarce, this being the first time we have encountered it.
