Attractive original antique view of the city of Pinerolo in northwestern Italy. The view shows the city in attractive detail, with a backdrop of alpine mountains and extensive fortifications. A key at the bottom lists seven points of interest.

This view was produced by Pierre Aveline, one of the foremost viewmakers of the 18th century. Unlike many of Aveline's other views, which focus on the major cities of Europe, Pinerolo is only a regional economic center. It had been traded between France and other states several times in the 16th and 17th century. Curiously, despite the view ascribing the city to France, it had actually been handed to Savoy in 1796, on condition that its fortifications be destroyed.
