Fabulous original 18th-century copperplate engraving showing a view of Florence from its hills in the southwest. The city is shown nestled in the Tuscan foothills, with its decorative architecture neatly filling the scene.

The city's famous Duomo Cathedral, Pitti Palace, and the bridges across the Arno can all be found in this view. In addition, the old city walls are prominently featured. At the base of the view, text in French details the sights of the cities and explains its politics.

This view was published by Pierre Aveline, one of the foremost viewmakers from the first part of the 18th century.
