From Cyprus Point to Carmel to the Hotel Del Monte
Scarce promotional pamphlet with a bird's-eye view promoting the lands of the Del Monte Company in Carmel, Pebble Beach, Monterey, and the surrounding area.
This is a fine full-color bird's-eye view showing the Monterey Peninsula, Old Monterey, the Hotel del Monte complex, Carmel Woods, and Carmel-by-the-sea. The view shows the layout of a number of golf courses, including the:
- Del Monte Golf Course
- Pebble Beach Golf Course
- Monterey Peninsula Country Club Courses (3)
The verso shows several views of the Hotel Del Monte and the Monterey Peninsula. Text describes the activities in the region and the history of the Hotel Del Monte.
A mile track, polo field, and trap shooting area are shown to the northeast of the Hotel Del Monte. In the distance table, distances from the Hotel are shown. The famous seventeen-mile drive is shown in Red, and the other scenic routes in the southern part of the peninsula are shown in yellow.
W.H. Bull was the illustrator of a number of promotional brochures published by the Del Monte Company in the mid-1920s.
This pamphlet is a variant of another Bull pamphlet with verso showing the plan of various towns in the region. OCLC locates no examples of this pamphlet and only 2 examples of a pamphlet with the alternate verso.
