Description

Wonderful promotional pamphlet issued to promote the State of Kansas during its 100th anniversary year, 1961.

The map epitomizes America's optimistic outlook in the middle of the 20th century; it dominated world food and industrial production, and these qualities were seen as strategically important in the context of the Cold War.

The sheet includes a color photograph of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with an image of a letter from him endorsing Kansas (his home state). It has the same from Governor George Docking. It includes a bird's-eye view of the Mid America Fairgrounds in Topeka, as well as maps of Kansas in the context of the United States and in relative to the rest of the world.

Many patriotic slogans and images are scattered around the sheet.
