Description

Rare antique engraved plan of Paris oriented with northeast at the top, published in Siena by Matteo Florimi.

An uncommon bird's-eye plan of Paris derived from the Lafreri school of map makers.

Includes two large coats of arms held by an angel, with an inset map of France in the lower-left corner. Compass rose and key locating 71 points of interest.

The map is drawn from Andre Thevet's Vray Pourtraict of 1568.

Condition Description
Trimmed just into the image at top and bottom (as often, for inclusion in a composite atlas), with loss expertly replaced in facsimile. Remargined at all sides.
