Description
Rare view of Marseille, published in Siena by Matteo Florimi.
A fine early view of Marseille, with a key at the bottom, locating important points of interest.
Stefano Bifolco identifies this the view has having been drawn from an anonymous earlier view of Marseille (Bifolco-Ronca 425), which Bifolco surmises was possibly engraved by Mario Cartaro of Claudio Duchetti.
The present example is likely a later state by Sienese publisher Pietro Petrucci, with the plate extensively re-engraved by a skilled hand to address the plate weakness over time.
Rarity
The view is extremely rare. We have never seen an example of the Petrucci edition on the market.

Minor loss of paper at top left corner.
