Rumsey notes, "humorous notes and images throughout the map, including Mardi Gras at New Orleans, horse racing outside Miami and a man in large sombrero smoking an oversized cigar in Key West".

The map is filled with caricatures of tourism, watersports and local points of interest, including racial, cultural and gender caricatures which illustrate the imagery which was common for the period.
