Description

Scarce map of the US, Mexico and Texas, just prior to the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Shows a massive Texas, including a portion of New Mexico (Santa Fe, etc), New California as part of Mexico, a massive Oregon Territory extending to the Rockies, massive Nebraska Territory extending to the Rockies and to Canada, odd Western (Indian) Territory, and nice post-Fremont, pre-Gold Rush cartography. Good detail throughout the West, includings towns, roads, rivers, mountains, forts and some of the great mythical rivers, etc. of the territorial west. Pre-dates Minnesota. An interesting map which from Sharp's Corresponding Atlas. This is the first example of the map we have ever seen offered separately. We have previously seen the atlas offered on one other occasion, suggesting that it too is quite scarce.
