Description

Large, impressive vintage pictorial map of New Zealand, produced by G.B. Scott "N.Z. scenic photographer."

The large map of New Zealand is framed by a Maori-style carved paneling. A note reads "Maori carved panelling. Paua shell is used for eyes and is a noted N.Z. souvenir in manufacture of bracelets, rings, etc." The map is also surrounded by a plethora of scenes of natural beauty, landscapes, flora, and fauna.

The National Library of New Zealand has several items by G.B. Scott illustrated online. This establishes a date for Scott's work from the 1950s to the 1960s. Some of his maps have been turned into puzzles, though apparently not this one.

Apparently very rare. OCLC records one "New Zealand" map by G.B. Scott, dated 1966, though we cannot say if it is this one or another.
