Description

Scarce antique double-page engraved and letterpress chart of the mountains of the world, from Carey & Lea's atlas.

This is one of the earliest mountain charts to appear in an American atlas. it includes over 100 mountains and elevations, including some volcanoes.

The mountains are illustrated at the center in an engraving by Young & Delleker, with the oversight of Fielding Lucas Jr. The illustrated mountains correspond to a key that surrounds the central image. The key lists the name of the mountain, its country, and its height.
