Description

The Florida Tropical Trunk Line

Detailed map of the Jacksonville, Tampa & Key West System, published to promote its rail road and steamship lines throughout the state of Florida and extending to Havana in 1891.

The lines include 6 named railroad lines and the Indian River Steamboat Company, along with the lines of the St. Augustine Route, servicing the Atlantic Coast as far north as Halifax.

The towns of Biscayne and Miami are named in South Florida, as is Tuscanoggee Camp.

The name Tropical Trunk Line dates to the mid-1880s.  The first appearance we could find was in 1886, but the company did not begin actively advertising the name until 1889.
