Description

Whimsical birdseye view style map of San Diego and vicinity, published by Archar in Vancouver.

As a San Diegan, this is the ultimate 1970s nostalgia map, packed full of historical, whimsical and ephemeral images.  Some of the more familiar recurring themes include the KGB and the KGB Chicken (Ted Giannoulis) and San Diego's many recreational options.

Literally every square inch of the map is packed with illustrations that evoke local San Diego history and entertainment, much of it quite short lived and others enduring.

The artist, Kim Forrest, is better known for a series of maps of the Hawaiian Islands done for United Airlines in the late 1970s.

The view was produced and published by Archar (Western) Inc. of Vancouver, BC.
