Chicago Guide Map Rarity
Rare business district guide map of the Chicago Business District illustrating hotels, amusement locations and businesses.
The map is in fact quite useful for tourists, with many hotels, theaters, opera houses, music stores, arcades, clothiers, toy stores, jewelers, drug stores and similar businesses shown.
The ‘Strangers’ Guides’ and maps of Frank Glossop provide a fascinating snapshot of the Windy City in the decades immediately following the Great Fire of 1871.
The map shows a detailed plan of the Loop, where nearly every building is outlined and individually labeled.

We locate a single example of the map (Library of Congress - 1881 edition).
