Description

Fine-Lewis & Clark era map of America, reflecting the geo-political boundaries immediately after the Louisiana Purchase.

In the northwest, a number of Hudson Bay Company houses and forts are noted, with the western most regions of Canada called Neu Norfolk, Neu Hannover and New Georgian. Vancouver Island is Quadra or Vancouver Island.  The treatment of the Alaskan Coast is beginning to take shape.

The map is perhaps most noteworthy for the tangle of mountain ranges in the Western part of North America.

South America is shown on the eve of its progressive independence from Spain and Portugal.
