Description

Finely executed promotional railroad map and time tables, published for the Mexican National Railroad.

This is the so-called "Eastern Edition -- Sept. 1st, 1890."  The map shows Mexican National Railroad and railroad connections to that line through the lower United States and north central Mexico; major cities in various Mexican states, cities and towns along Mexican National Railroad.  The map also shows steamship lines along the Pacific and Gulf coasts.

The main line of the railroad extends from Mexico City to Corpus Christi, Texas, with railroad spurs extending to Chapultepec and El Salto.  A separate line runs from San Miguel to Brownsville, Texas.

A large inset shows the area around Mexico City and a profile view, showing the change in elevation along the route.

Rarity

The map is rare.

OCLC does not list another example of this edition.  OCLC locates 2 examples of the "Western Edition" for 1890 (Colorado College and Arizona Historical Society) and 1 example of the January 1890 edition.
