Description

A beautiful little etching of Lambeth Palace, by perhaps the greatest visual recorder of 17th century London, the Czech engraver Wenceslaus Hollar.

Lambeth Palace is the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It is situated in north Lambeth, London, on the south bank of the River Thames, 400 yards southeast of the Palace of Westminster.

Hind's second state of three, with the "3" added below the image at lower-right. This reflects the fact that later printsellers sold the prints as such, even though they were not originally intended as a series by Hollar.
