Description
Attractive vintage map of Beijing containing remarkable detail. The map shows the old city of Beijing, within the city walls (now traced by the 2nd Ring Road).
The city is colored by neighborhood, with the Forbidden City at the heart of the map, adjacent to the "Middle" and "Southern Seas." The walls between the inner and outer cities (the top half and bottom half of the map) are shown.
The map is remarkably detailed, including the many streets, avenues, and hutongs (traditional alleyways associated with siheyuan or traditional courtyard residences) of Old Beijing. Most streets, roads, and buildings have annotated characters, making this a remarkably detailed map.
