Description

Beautiful large format engraved view of Genoa, Italy, showing the city and its harbor from the ocean. The view was published in Augsburg by the heirs of Jeremias Wolff in 1731.

The Coat of Arms of Genoa can be seen in the upper-right corner. There is a key listing 57 city landmarks below the image.

Wolff published from approximately 1686 to 1724. After his death, his plates were inherited by his son-in-law, Johan Balthasar Probst, who married Wolff's only daughter. Probst published under the title "Heirs of Jeremias Wolff", as here.

This is one of the best reasonably obtainable antiquarian view of Genoa.
