Rare Texas Railroad Map
Interesting map of Texas, illustrating the route of the Corpus Christi, San Diego & Rio Grande Railroad and connecting routes, including an extension into Mexico.
The map was prepared to illustrate a US government committee report in support of a bill to construct a military railway and telegraph line from San Antonio to Laredo. A dissenting report objected to wasting $12,000 of government moneys to construct a virtually useless railroad. A better route for military purposes, the dissenters argue, would run along the border, not to the border.
