Description

Striking map of the Los Angeles Basin, depicting the city as it appeared in 1871.

Seems to have been a different printing than the normal example--perhaps printed uncolored, with later hand coloring.

The map was prepared by the Women's University Club of Los Angeles and "Approved by the Historical Society of Southern California." The map includes color illustrations, historic notes, index to points of interest, and "Map showing original Spanish ranchos abutting on the sea." One of the most interesting and decorative LA Birdseye Views of the period.
