Interesting and detailed map of the United States from Conrad Malte-Brun's Atlas Complet. Texas is a Republic. Two mythical rivers extend from San Francisco to the twin Salt Lakes. Many Indian Tribes located. Oregon Territory extends north to 54-40. Massive Missouri Territory dominates the Transmississippi West. Many Indian Tribes located throughout the mid-west. An excellent map from an interesting transitional period. Malte-Brun's maps are well regarded for being thoroughly researched and cartographically accurate. This map reflects contemporary Western Cartography immediate before Fremont, Josiah Gregg and other important maps introduced in the 1840s.
