Description

Rare separately published promotional map for Canadian Pacific Railway routes through the Canadian Rockies, published in 1928.

The map covers Banff National Park, Kootenay National Park, Yoho Park and the full breadth of the Canadian Rockies.

First issued in 1927, the reference key helps users locate:

  • Railway lines
  • Highways
  • Secondary Roads and Trails
  • Towns
  • Flag Stations
  • Post Offices
  • Hotels
  • Bungalow Camps
  • Tea Houses
  • Gas Stations
  • Warden's Huts
  • Waterfalls, Glaciers, Swamps, etc.

As noted by PJ Mode in the Cornell collection entry for the map:

[The map is] focused on Canadian Pacific's rail lines and its resort hotels at and around Lake Louise, at the Southern end of Jasper National Park. Canadian National's lines are entirely omitted, and the unnecessarily large legend box at the top left of the map is strategically positioned to cover the location of Canadian National's Jasper Park Lodge resort at the Northwestern end of the Park. (Note that the map is oriented with northeast at the top.)

Map is copyrighted 1927, dated 1929, and "corrected to Nov. 1929."
