Description

Massive four-sheet map of the Soviet Union, prepared for administrative purposes by the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs Main Directorate of State Survey and Cartography All-Union Cartographic Trust.

1936 was one of the most important years in the history of the Soviet Union; it saw the promulgation of the Constitution of 1936 (the Stalin Constitution) as well as the commencement of the Great Purges.

The map shows the complicated internal boundaries within the U.S.S.R. at the time. It is probably the best map of the Soviet Union in this format from before the Second World War.
